Throughout Sixth Form students will take part in our Universities Programme which aims to support students in making applications to universities, which will best support their potential. The Universities Programme includes work during Thursday morning Learning Guide time; work in small focus groups targeted towards specific courses or universities, and a wide reaching schedule of university visits. Sixth Form students have visited both Oxford and Cambridge, local universities such as Sunderland, Tesside, Northumbria and Newcastle, collegiate universities including York and Durham, city based universities such as Manchester, Sheffield and Leeds and campus universities including Nottingham.
In addition, the Universities Programme supports students in visits to universities for specific subject based events and wider opportunities including UCAS Fairs, Oxbridge Conference, Design Your Future and Pathways to Law . All students will be given the opportunity to visit a range of universities during the programme in order to gain a better understanding of the options available to them and what university life can offer.
Students will also be working on their Personal Development Plans in one-to-one sessions over the coming weeks in order to provide them with a clear aim to work towards in terms of university and career goals. It is important that students use their time in Sixth Form in order to build their skills to enable the best possible applications to Higher Education.
