Within the Sixth Form at Dyke House College, students are provided with opportunities to develop their leadership skills. For those students who wish to take on a leadership role the opportunity is there, something that is fundamental to our ethos of fostering each student to fulfil his or her potential. As one demonstration of this, Sixth Form students are encouraged to apply for positions of leadership within the newly formed Student Council. This Council, to be affiliated with the National Union of Students represents student voice within the College. It allows elected members to help shape the life in the Sixth Form and to represent the views of their peers in consultative meetings with College decision makers. It has a remit to scrutinise teaching and learning in order to ensure that the academic experiences of all members of the Sixth Form are maximised. Furthermore, it organises a range of social and charitable events which enhance student life and the welfare of others beyond the College and which add immensely to the vibrancy of our Sixth Form community.
