The study of Chemistry provides a deep insight into the interactions of these elements to form everything in the modern world, from plastics to petrol. Chemists are essential experts in a future world facing challenges as diverse as global warming and the development of life saving drugs.

COURSE OUTLINE

AS level
Stand alone qualification to be completed during Year 12.

Unit 1: Development of Practical skills
Unit 2: Foundations in Chemistry
Unit 3: Periodic Table and Energy
Unit 4: Core Organic Chemistry

A level
Includes unit 1-3 and the following additional units:

Unit 5: Physical Chemistry and Transition Elements
Unit 6: Organic Chemistry and Analysis

PROGRESSIONAL/CAREER OPPORTUNITIES

A level Chemistry is a good choice for students considering careers in the health and clinical professions, including Medicine, Veterinary Science, Nursing, Dentistry and Forensic science. Studying Chemistry will also prepare students for industry careers, such as those within the pharmaceutical or petrochemical sectors.
