The A Level Art Craft and Design course is both exciting and wide ranging, introducing students to the best of both new and traditional experiences, materials and methods. Students will develop their personal portfolio in the company of high achieving and highly motivated colleagues. The course provides opportunities to visit important exhibitions, engage with artists and craftspeople and explore a European cultural centre. The support and tuition is of a high quality, tailored to the individual needs of the student.

COURSE OUTLINE

AS level
Stand alone qualification to be completed during Year 12.

Component 1: Portfolio – no time limit (60% of AS Level)
Component 2: Externally set assignment – preparatory period + 10 hours supervised time (40% of AS Level)

A level

Component 1: Personal Investigation – no time limit (60% of A level)
Component 2: Externally set assignment – preparatory period + 15 hours supervised time (40% of A level)

PROGRESSIONAL/CAREER OPPORTUNITIES

Art and Design creates exciting opportunities for cross-disciplinary research. It provides students with an opportunity to work across a range of media and develop skills in research, organisation, collaboration and presentation. A level Art and Design is a fantastic step in supporting careers in Animation and Illustration, Conservation and Restoration, Calligraphy and Typography, Architecture, Fashion, Textiles, Costume and Theatre, Fine Art and Graphics and Web Design.
